The Weight of Ethics and the Reality of the Sprint
This week reminded me of how much ethical responsibility lies within this kaupapa. Balancing tech, motherhood, and thesis life while writing about Māori language, data, and AI has made it clear how easily our stories can be put at risk when systems ignore tikanga. Week 2 has been about grounding myself again in why this mahi matters.
Why This Thesis Matters
Over the next eight weeks, I’m inviting people into the final sprint of completing my master’s thesis, while working full‑time in tech, being a mum, and being Māori. These reflections aren’t about sharing my thesis content, but about the thinking, questioning, unlearning, and discovering that shape this journey. My hope is that this series helps open up deeper conversations about Māori data, Māori language, Māori futures, and our role in shaping ethical AI.
